 BU16's capture 2009

Oakwood Premier Invitational Championship

May 25, 2009

 

The Eagles opened the Memorial Day Tournament with a game against Ajax from Connecticut.   The match was 0-0 at half, but 3 second half goals by the Eagles preserved win.

Game 2 of the tournament vs Oakwood 15’s,  was 1 – 1 at and ended 2-2.

Game 3 against South Central, Ct had the Eagles take a 2-0 lead at the half.  4 second half goals completed the 6- 0 win.

The semi-finals pitted the Eagles against Northeast United, Ct.  The Eagles led 2 – 0 late in the first half when weather halted play.  After a 90  minute wait, play resumed and the Eagles prevailing 2-1.

The finals saw the Eagles against AFC from Ct.  An early goal put AFC up until the 20th minute when the Eagles tied the game before halftime.  A quick goal put AFC up 2-1 until the Eagles scored 2 goals to capture the game and tournament championship.

BU16's 2009 Season Summary

The Eagles opened their 2009 MAPLE season versus Boston Blast in Holliston.   A tight match from the beginning saw both teams with scoring opportunities in the first half.   A late first half goal by the Eagles stood up and the Eagles came away with a 1-0 win.

 

Next in week 2 was a trip to FC Stars.  An early goal in the first half put Eagles up 1-0.  The Eagles had a close scoring chance just before halftime but failed to covert and went into the break 1-0.  A 2nd half goal put the Eagles up 2-0 before FC Stars scored late in the 2nd half to end the game at 2-1.

 

Week 3 of the league schedule pitted the Eagles against Crusaders FC in Holliston.  After a scoreless half, that saw quality chances by both teams, the Crusaders scored on a set play midway thru the 2nd half.  The Eagles mounted late pressure, including a pk that hit the crossbar, but couldn’t tie the match.

 

During week 4, the Eagles faced SF Vikings.  Two first half goals by the Vikings was enough for a 2-0 win.

 

The Eagles next faced FC United is a make-up game from week 1.  2 first half goals put the Eagles up 2-1 at half.  A second half goal secured the win 3-1 for the Eagles.

 

Week 6 pitted the Eagles vs FC Puma.   The match was an even contest with both teams having scoring chances in both halves. 

In the end, the match was a 0 – 0 draw.

 

The last game of the season was a tight game against Western United.  The Eagles scored first in the second half, but WU countered and tied the game.   A goal by the Eagles later in the second half preserved a 2-1 win.

 

The Eagles finish the season 4-2-1.



 

BU16's perform well at rain shortened MAPS Challenge

The New England Eagles U16 Boy's Team opened their season with a trip to New Jersey at the MAPS Spring Challenge at Fort Dix.   In their first game against Lower Merion SC, the Eagles scored on a quick goal 5 minutes into the match.   Applying continous pressure thru out the first half, the Eagles scored a second goal and led 2-0 at halftime.     The Eagles opened the second half with more pressure, but a goal by Lower Merion cut the lead to 2-1 with 10 minutes to play.  The Eagles rebounded from the goal and mounted several attacks to preserve the win.

The second game of the day pitted the Eagles against the 13th ranked Ukranian Nationals of Eastern PA.   The Eagles opened the scoring early and led 3-0 at half time.  During the second half, the Eagles scored 2 additional goals to complete the 5-0 win.   Based on their 2 wins on Saturday, the Eagles were headed to the semi-finals, regardless of their 3rd match result.

Unfortunately, the rain on Saturday night caused the tournament to cancel all remaining games.

BU15's finish as Oakwood Finalists

The New England Eagles U15 Boy's Team finished as finalists at the Oakwood Premier Invitational Memorial Day tournament.  

 

The Eagles opened group play on Saturday against Coastal Soccer of Maine, a 2008 State Semi-Finalist.  The Eagles came out flying scoring in the first 17 seconds and quickly added a second goal early in the first half.   Coastal scored to cut the lead in half , but a late goal by the Eagles put them ahead 3-1 at the half.  A second half goal completed the scoring and the 4-1 win.  In their second game of the day, the Eagles faced CDSA of Delaware.  The Eagles scored 2 goals in both halves to gain a 4-0 win.  The third match of group play was against host club Oakwood Soccer, the 2008 Ct State Champion and 2008 Region 1 champion.   The Eagles withstood early Oakwood pressure, including 2 PK's in the first half.    The game ended at 0- 0 with both teams nearly scoring the go ahead goal late in the game.    In the Semi-finals, the Eagles faced NH Classics, a 2008 NH State Finalist.  The Eagles scored in both halves, to gain a 2-0 win and a game against Western United (2008 Mass Semi-Finalist) in the finals.  In the finals, WU scored on a first half PK and led 1-0 at half.   The Eagles mounted strong second half pressure, but a late goal gave Western a 2-0 win.

 



New England Eagles BU15 Finish Spring 2008 Season with 5-1-1 record

The Eagles U15 Boys team finished a very successful spring 2008 season by finishing second in Division 2 with a 5-1-1 record.  The second place finish places the team in a 2 game playoff on June 14 and 15, with the winner advancing to Division 1 for the U16 spring season.

The Eagles opened the season with a match against Western United.  The Eagles scored early, only to be matched by WU, but the Eagles scored a second goal and led at half time 2-1.  WU scored 3 second half goals, and came away with a 4.2 victory.   

The Eagles traveled to face North Shore United in week 2.  The Eagles traded goals with NSU, but won their match 3-2 and evened their record at 1-1. 

In week 3, the Eagles faced Inter Bandits in another road game.  The Eagles scored in both halves, and came away with a 3- 1 victory.    

The Eagles faced the Scorpions in a home game in week 4.  As with their prior matches, the Eagles scored in both halves and won the match 2-0.

The Eagles traveled to Rhode Island to face Bayside in week 5.   Both teams played each other tough, with the Eagles prevailing 2-1.

In week 6, the Eagles traveled to face Nor’Easter.  The Eagles led 1-0 at halftime, scored 2 in the second half and won the match 3-0.

The last match of the season pitted the Eagles against Fuller Hamlets.  Both teams battled back and forth, with the match ending 0-0.
